Social justice is not a slogan, it is our constitutional duty": Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah at AICC Conclave
New Delhi [India], August 2 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah renewed his government pledge to social justice being not a charity but a constitutional obligation, at AICC Law, Human Rights and RTI Department Conclave, in New Delhi.
The session was chaired by the senior leader of the congress and was entitled Social Justice and the Constitution: Ideas of Equality and Fraternity.
CM Siddaramaiah wrote in a posting on X, I had the privilege of chairing the session on 'Social Justice and the Constitution: Ideas of Equality and Fraternity' at the AICC Law, Human Rights and RTI Conclave in New Delhi. I was talking of the reason why social justice is the core of our Constitution--not as charity, but as a right. Articles 14-17 enable us to right historical miscarriages by affirmative action and institutional equality.
Karnataka is in the vanguard--with internal reservation of SCs, backward class surveys, proportionate budget allocation with SCP/TSP. We believe in actual equality, not tokenism. Social justice is not a motto--it is our constitutional responsibility. And it should be done now and not later," he said.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar called on Saturday (at the AICC conclave) on Congress workers and legal experts in India to all join hands to work under one common mission, the Prime Minister by 2029 should be Rahul Gandhi. Speaking at the AICC Annual Legal Conclave in New Delhi, Vigyan Bhawan, Shivakumar added that the history of the country is the history of Congress and that the strength of the country is the strength of the Congress. The Congress Party has held the country together and the Gandhi family has held the Congress Party together.
This is not merely a political arm-twisting, this is a wake up call to all of you to merge together and to pull the country back on track by 2029. You must make sure that Rahul Gandhi Ji makes the Prime Minister of this country by 2029. That is what you should commit to, Shivakumar said. (ANI)
