ISCA Celebrates 10 Years of ISCA Cares with Launch of Commemorative Book Series at Annual Dinner
Singapore, August 20: The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) held a 10th anniversary of its charity division, ISCA Cares, at its Annual Dinner. In a commemoration of the milestone, ISCA Cares, through its 10th anniversary commemorative book series, Making it Count, was launched by Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Ministers Office, Second Minister in charge of Finance and National Development.
The book series is based on the lives and reflections of eight Distinguished Lifetime Members who have distinguished themselves in terms of their contributions in the profession of accountants, business community and the service of the people. The stories seek to encourage younger generation to consider accountancy as an important and relevant profession through their stories and guiding values.
During the dinner, ISCA also bestowed and recognised outstanding leaders in the accountancy profession through the awarding of the Special Appreciation Award and the conferment of the Distinguished Lifetime Membership. Dr Ernest Kan was awarded the Distinguished Lifetime Membership which is bestowed on the most recognized persons who have contributed to the accountancy profession, the business fraternity and governmental service.
Dr Kan former President of ISCA commented: I am pleased to be awarded the ISCA Distinguished Lifetime Membership. The profession has provided me with a lot and it has been an honor to make contributions to its reform agenda and developments when l was the President. It is encouraging to note that ISCA has become one of the pillars of the Singaporean accountancy ecosystem, and I believe the profession will only improve with the new generation of passionate professionals.
The ISCA Special Appreciation Award was conferred on Mr Max Loh, Chairman of ISCA Cares, in recognition of his contribution of great importance to ISCA and the accountancy profession in Singapore.
Mr Loh remarked: I feel very honoured to receive the ISCA Special Appreciation Award. I have persevered that I should contribute to the profession and to society. It takes Purpose, Passion, perseverance and Positivity to keep on lifting the accountancy profession and serving the community, and I have greatly been privileged to have been given a chance to do so over the years.
Mr Loh has resigned the Chairmanship of ISCA Cares and formally transferred the Chairmanship to Professor Ang Hak Seng during the dinner.
