J-K: LG lays foundation stone for auditorium, upgradation work for govt school in Samba
Samba (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 15 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha laid the foundation stone of an Auditorium and upgradation project of the Government Higher Secondary School in Gurha Slathia, Samba, a release said on Sunday.
The release says that funds to the new Auditorium with the capacity of 500 persons and in upgradation of Government Higher Secondary School have been provided as charity after Lieutenant Governor had visited Gurha Slathia in February 2025 and demanded that funds be arranged.
“When I came to Gurha Slathia in February of this year, the young people here asked me to give them a large auditorium 500 persons. I promised them that we will proceed with the project at 50/50 with me raising half of the money and the local MLA contributing the other half. However I realised that it will need very large sum and such an arrangement might not be successful since the budget has already gone to the government and not sure whether it is going to be passed during the budget session. So I had to find another means of fulfilling this promise. I requested revered Babaji to assist me in securing a large auditorium and school upgradation. He promised me that it would be done. I am happy and grateful. I do hope that in one year, the work on Auditorium will be completed. The Government Higher Secondary School too would be brought up to date technologically,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor also declared a sports facility at Gurha Slathia that was also to be funded using charity.
He praised the people of Gurha Slathia and dedicated the new projects to the youths of the locality.
“It is my pleasure that a big dream is realising itself today. It is important to keep in mind that education determines the future of a region and sparks inclusive growth and sustainability. Thus, educational infrastructure needs to be emphasized as important in economic development and business ventures,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
The Lieutenant Governor pointed out significant transformative initiatives that have been in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 that have led to a new revolution in school and higher education throughout Jammu Kashmir.
He claimed that the world can provide many examples of the fact that a certain territory was turned into a resource-deprived region and then became the economic giants within several years and decades, mainly because of the huge investments made in the education and skills training of the young people. “Not only have we provided fair access to quality education in the rural areas but thousands of out of school children have been returned to the classrooms,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He challenged the young people to embrace the new education and the new skilling programs to turn this Union Territory into an innovation center, equality and make the society even better.
In his speech, the Lieutenant Governor also addressed the revolutionary change that was occurring in all the sectors in Samba and that he was committed to the inclusive development of the border regions in the district.
“Strong border areas defend the core of the country and serve as a first line of defence. Over the last half a decade, border regions in Samba experienced extensive infrastructural development. Rapid industrialization also accelerated economic growth and assimilated the locals into the mainstream national economy,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor of Gurha Slathia pointed out the historic changes that were being experienced in UT of J&K, on the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Lieutenant Governor requested all the stakeholders to continue the development pace and collaborate with each other with unity and belonging power and assist the administration in establishing a brighter present and future of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor said: “Let us together make our Jammu and Kashmir a self-reliant, powerful and prosperous state and with new self-confidence achieve the dreams of Samba.”
The Lieutenant Governor was also praising the efforts and commitment of the Member of Legislative Assembly, the district administration and the people in Samba particularly the youth bringing change on the ground and creating a strong foundation on which fundamental change would be introduced in the society.
